6/30 _ My Favorite Television Show...

Day 06: Favorite television show

I can't get enough of or get bored of Seinfeld. As you can see from the picture we have all the seasons. (It just sucks that now you can get them all in one box but oh well). If I had to pick a favorite character it would have to be either Elaine or Kramer although George and Jerry have their moments. You can't also forget about Newman and Puddy. I think my favorite few episodes are the parking garage and the restaurant. I'm sure there are more but those ones come to mind immediately. Who would have thought all of them either wandering around in a parking garage or standing in a restaurant waiting to be seated would be funny. It's probably not a show for everyone (my mom HATED that show because she says nothing ever happens! lol) but me and Chris still love it.

Other favorite shows past and present:

- Family guy: (you can see some of the seasons in the picture. Another show that is definately not for everyone, but we find it hilarious.
- Freaks and Geeks - OMG an amazing hilarious show! It only lasted one season unfortunately before they cancelled it, which I think was a mistake. A lot of good shows get cancelled after only a season I have noticed.
- The Office - this has been on for a while but we just started watching it and I think it might be a very close second to Seinfeld. We have the first two seasons already and all I can say is hilarious! I checked out the BBC version of the show and it is pretty funny as well. Although I am shocked at what they allow on air over there. Some of the things they say/do/show would never be allowed over here!
- Parks and Recreation - This is the very newest show we started watching because it was made by the same people as The Office I believe. It's pretty funny. I have only seen the first season so far though.
- Gilmore Girls - Chis hates this show lol because he says they talk way to fast. I don't find that but whatever!
- Lost - I loved this show. We started watching it when it was almost over or was already over so we didn't have to wait for new episodes. I tell you it sucked me in so much that I did not want to go to work and spend 8 hours wondering what happened next. I was sad to see it end.
- Everybody loves Raymond - Things he did were always making my head shake. We used to watch reruns of this on tv all the time until the channel they were on was no longer available through our cable. Oh well still a funny show.
- That 70's show - Always good for a laugh.

I'm sure I am forgetting a few, I don't really watch tv to much anymore, if it is on its usually for background noise. I am looking forward to the new show by the producers of Lost. Not really sure when it is supposed to start but it's somewhat similar but it's got the fairytale weaved in somehow. I wish I could remember what it was called! Once upon a time! Ha I had to go look it up. I'm sure there are some really good shows that I am missing out on but maybe one day I will discover them. What are some of your favorite shows?

Monkey's first foods: Bananas

Yesterday we gave monkey bananas for the first time. There was almost no reaction last night so I guess she liked them. She almost seemed pretty indifferent. I guess that is a good thing? It's not like she refused to eat them or anything. We got the first few bites on camera again so here is some baby monkey cuteness. I'm surprised that so far she has liked pretty much everything we have tried to give her. I guess I should be happy that we don't have a picky eater on our hands!

5/30 - My Favorite Movie of all time!

Day five : Your Favorite movie

There are sooo many movies that I love. Probably way to many to name. If I had to pick one I would never hesitate to say "The Goonies". I remember watching this as a child any time I could. Such a good good movie with unforgettable characters! Seriously how can you forget the truffle shuffle! Nothing like danger, adventure, treasure and pirate ships!

This list could go on and on! :) There really isn't a genre that I don't like, I guess what I watch just depends on the mood I am in. I like movies I can watch over and over again and it's a double bonus if they are comedies or set in medievel/fantasy setting. 

Just another random factoid about myself while we are on the movie topic. The movie I hate the most and find the creepiest is E.T! Seriously my poor sister took me to see that when I was 5ish thinking it's a kids movie and I will like it. Unfortunately it gave me nightmares! I can still see E.T with his glowy finger and stomach pointing at me from the bottom of my bed! So far I have only come across one or two people who think the same as me, everyone else loved the movie.

4/30 - Our fur babies...

Day 04- Any pets? Names and stories behind them.

We have two fur babies that are about 6 years old now. They are both male, brothers and from the same litter. We got them from a person that had a cat who had a litter and wanted/needed to get rid of the kittens. I believe we got them when they were about 8 weeks old. We took two so one wouldn't be lonely. I wish we had only took one, but couldn't imagine not having both of them now.

The total grey one is named Gimli. Yep after Gimli the dwarf from Lord of the Rings. Originally we thought that would be a perfect name for a grey tabby but when we got our two it still fit our grey cat. The other name is more original and Chris was the one that came up with that one. We call him Mantisaur. It is a cross between a preying mantis and a dinosaur. When we first got them Gimli was the more braver one and Mantisaur the scaredy cat. His whiskers reminding me of a prey mantis for some reason and Chris thought it would be fun to add the saur since Dinosaurs are huge and really if you came across one I doubt they would be afraid of anything. So it was sort of funny since Mantisaur was a big Chicken.

They have med length fur and it continues to get everywhere! We got one of those furminators because we know someone that has one and says it really does work but it's almost impossible to get them to sit still enough to give them a good brushing. They like to turn and face you for head pets. They are both pretty lazy and there favorite things to do are eat, sleep, demand pets and cuddle. Also in the middle of the night they love chasing each other up and down the tiled hallway (sounding like a herd of elephants I have to add) because apparently the best time to exercise is when everyone is sleeping.
 

I think its Mantisaur's goal in life to cover every inch of our living room carpet with his white fur because everytime I turn around he is curled up in a new spot. Gimli on the other hand just sleeps as much as he can. It's funny that even after 6 months they both give Monkey a wide berth if she is on the floor. I think that we will see even less of them when she learns to crawl!
 

3/30: My family...

Day 03- A picture of you and your family

We really need to get a good family shot, we did get one when monkey was about 1-2 months old but I really don't like how they turned out (meaning I don't like how I looked in them lol). So instead I have for you a photo of me and my husband two years ago when we got our engagement photos done, I loved how they turned out, and a photo of monkey a month or so back. I'm sure everyone by now knows what she looks like. :) We are planning on getting some photos done of monkey again since she is 6 months old and it is almost Halloween. I am hoping we can get a few family shots done at the same time. I really need to get on that since it is already October 3rd!!

Seeing these pictures again makes me really REALLY miss my long hair. I am growing it out again but it takes so long!

2/30 days about Krissy...

Day Two: The meaning behind your Blog name

My blog name was originally Little Cashew. I have always kept a journal throughout my life, as early as elementary school. I love to be able to reread what I was doing, feeling or thinking. So when I got pregnant I thought that posting my entries online as well and sending the link out to my family and friends, it would let them be able to follow along on my pregnancy journey with me. We don't really live all that close so I don't really see them to often as we would like, so this was a perfect opportunity. I named it Our Little Cashew since that was our little beans nickname from the start. 

By the time I was almost due we were starting to call our unborn baby Monkey because she was always punching and kicking and was so active it was common for me to say 'aww baby is kicking again the little monkey'. The nickname just stuck. Eventually sometime after she was born I decided to move my journal to blogger since I had discovered there were tons of other moms out there doing what I was doing and I thought on blogger it would be a better way to connect with them.

My previous journal was on deadjournal so yeah lol, not the best place to be able to network. It was harder then I thought to pick a name since all the ones I wanted were taken. Eventually I settled on Baby Monkey House. The reason being is that eventually we want to have more children so I figured this would be a good blog name since it would eventually accomodate any other future additions to our family. I also would be able to add more little cartoon monkeys to my banner as needed. Thus the Baby Monkey House blog was created. :) I really wasn't to sure of the name at first but I have definitely grown to love it!

1/30 days about Krissy...

Day one : A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

This is the most recent photo of myself. It was taken last Saturday night at my niece's wedding. :) Not really the greatest but the best of any of the latest. 

15 Interesting facts about me :

1 - I have a bad habit, for example, when giving direction to say the opposite of what I mean. Say I wanted to say 'turn right at the next street' I will be thinking right, I will be making the hand motion to turn right, I will even be thinking that I am saying right, but I will say 'turn left'. I do it all the time and it drives Chris nuts. I also say things backwards like 'I want to put the pot in the carrots' instead of 'the carrots in the pot', or 'I want to put the parrots in the cot' (apparently that is called a spoonerism). I don't do this all the time but often enough.

2 - I would love to build and live in a castle if I could, complete with secret passages and maybe even a moat.

3 - I come from a huge family. 8 on one side and 19 on the other, that makes for many many many aunts, uncles, cousins etc

4 - I was an aunt for the first time when I was 7.

5 - My favorite periods of time is anything medieval and ancient Egypt. ( I love the art, jewelry and architecture from both periods of time. They were always my favorite to learn about in art history.)

6 - I wanted to be a ballerina when I was younger. I took ballet for the longest time and even got to the point where I was training in pointe shoes (ouch my poor poor toes!) I also wanted to be a secretary and a hair dresser at random times of my youth.

7 - I like to play World of Warcraft (a mmo) and other random computer games. Dragon Age being the last one I completed and WOW was that ever an amazing game!

8 -  I always feel cold. I tell you I get strange look sometimes wearing a hoodie in the middle of summer :)

9 - I had all my wisdom teeth removed 3 years ago (in my late 20's) and surprisingly to me never had any face swelling nor any need of the T3's they gave me. I only missed work the day of the surgery and the next day. Everyone was surprised I was back so quick. Eating though was another story.

10 - My favorite colour is blue or forest green.

11 - I have lived in 8 different houses/apartments in my life time.

12 - I have only been out of my province and out of Canada once in my life and that happened when I went to New York City for a week.

13 - My favorite painting is the 'Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali'. I got to see this painting when visiting a museum when I was in New York and even though I knew it was small I was still shocked at how small it was (9.5 in × 13 in). I wish I would have gotten a picture of me looking at it, even though I was pretty sure we were allowed to snap photos (at least without the flash) the guards in the room intimidated me so much I was afraid I would get in trouble if I did. Still regret it but at least I was able to see it for myself!

14 - My favorite board game is Clue.

15 - I've never broken a bone in my body (although I came close once, spraining my wrist snowboarding)
