Monkey's first foods: Bananas

Yesterday we gave monkey bananas for the first time. There was almost no reaction last night so I guess she liked them. She almost seemed pretty indifferent. I guess that is a good thing? It's not like she refused to eat them or anything. We got the first few bites on camera again so here is some baby monkey cuteness. I'm surprised that so far she has liked pretty much everything we have tried to give her. I guess I should be happy that we don't have a picky eater on our hands!

First spoonful.

Taste testing.

It's delicious!?

  1. Haha! I just love her expressions. I do hope you have a non picky eater. Would make life so much easier.

  2. I'm one of those people where I'm of the belief that picky eaters are made and not born. I think what we give our kids (and how we give it to them) governs what they like. I think if you drown kids in vegetables and fruits without doctoring them too much with unnatural stuff, kids will take to them. And sure, kids will turn food away from time to time, but it's also about parents learning to stand their ground. If you let a picky eater (even at 1 year old!) reject food and you're quick to replace it, they'll learn to fuss until they get the one food they like. But at that age, you're building an index of tastes in their head, so it's important to not let their own baby-stubbornness govern the household.

  3. @Zach Rosenberg You know you have a good point there. That really is why I am glad we tried giving her the green beans again the second night and had no complaint. It was quite the opposite reaction from the previous night. Chris and I aren't picky eaters so hopefully she will be the same.
